Classification of graphite crucibles–CFCCARBON LTD

Graphite crucibles can be divided into two categories: machined graphite crucibles and clay graphite crucible. Machined graphite crucibles, also known as high purity graphite crucibles. Its produced/ machined from raw graphite material blocks or rods. If it is machined from high purity, high density and high strength graphite, then the graphite crucible is called high purity graphite crucible. the raw graphite material is mainly: isostatic graphite, molded graphite and vibration graphite. Clay graphite crucibles also known as SiC graphite crucibles, and there are mainly 3-4types. we will introduce more in other articles.

1) Machined graphite crucible, also known as high-purity graphite crucible, mainly machined with high purity and high density graphite materials, such as molded graphite material, isostatic graphite material. Its machined products, as per customers’ drawings. mchined graphite crucibles can be devided to steel melting crucible, copper melting crucible, gold melting crucible and analysis crucible, due to the meterials melted.
Refining gold crucible: gold melting graphite crucibles require high purity and high density raw materials. The bulk density is higher than 1.85g / cm3, the total ash content is less than 50ppm. The gold melting crucibles are usually machined from high-purity, high-density fine-grained graphite. The raw materials for the gold melting crucibles are Moulded graphite and isostatic graphite.
Refining uranium salt Graphite crucible: This kind of graphite crucible is large size graphite crucibles, usually used are Ф400mm × 700mm, Ф500mm × 800mm. Its manufacturing technology is the selection of high-quality low-ash petroleum coke by the crushing, milling, ingredients, kneading, extrusion molding (or molding), roasting, multiple impregnation, graphitization purification. The raw material of this kind of crucible are mainly isostatic graphite material.

2) graphite clay crucible, also known as SiC graphite crucible. Because it is main content of this crucible are silicon carbide (SiC) and graphite. Mainly used for melting copper, aluminum and other common metals. The cost of this kind of crucibles is relatively low, with large capacity of molten metal. The crucible molding method is mainly pressure forming method.

Due to different performances, applications, different application conditions, the use of raw materials, production methods, technology and product specifications are also different. The main raw material of graphite crucible is natural crystalline graphite. So it maintains the  physical and chemical properties of natural graphite. It has good thermal conductivity and high temperature resistance, it has low coefficient of thermal expansion in the process of high-temperature application,  it has a certain anti-strain properties in the sudden cold and hot environmen. It has  excellent chemical stability in the acid, alkaline environment, and has strong corrosion resistance. Graphite crucible has more sizes, and not restricted to the production scale, quantity and smelting materials, it can be produced to any size, any quantity, and can ensure the purity of the smelting materials. Graphite crucibles are widely used in the smelting of alloy tool steels and the smelting of non-ferrous metals and their alloys in metallurgy, foundry, machinery, chemical and other industrial areas because of their superior properties.
